Currently, the military justice system allows for blatant bias and a lack of accountability. For instance, commanders have the sole power to decide whether to prosecute cases; JAG officers often lack the experience necessary to properly perform their duties; and there is no minimum sentencing guidelines to prevent disparate punishments. The mission of the CLMP’s Military Justice Reform Division is to encourage policy changes that would create a more impartial and just system.
