When the draft ended in 1973, women represented just 2% of military recruits. Today, 16% of service members are women, ranging from 8% within the Marine Corps to nearly 20% within the Air Force and Navy. Notably, in 2016, the Department of Defense lifted all restrictions on the roles women can perform in the military. Yet, women today often go unrecognized for their service. It is the mission of the CLMP's Service Women Division to explore areas in which the unique needs of service women can be addressed and their contributions celebrated.
